Thank You

You guys. It’s December 31st, which means that this is my last blog post of the year. I’ve made it through almost an entire year of posting an entry every day (well…ahem, sometimes I would skip a day or two and have to catch up — but that was the exception rather than the rule :)

I would like to thank each and every one of you for reading my site. For those of you who took the time to comment and give feedback — you rule! I really appreciate it.

From the entire team here at Mental Skillness, we wish you a very Happy New Year, and all the best for 2013!

Wishful Skillin’: Underwater Hotel

Okay, so apparently this isn’t actually built yet…

But when it is, we will be there!

Now this is what I call a room with a view.

Wouldn’t it be kind of ridiculously amazing if they didn’t serve seafood in the restaurant?

Wishful Skillin’: ’93 World Series

So apparently it was a really big deal when the Blue Jays won back-to-back World Series in 1992 and 1993. I wasn’t living in Canada at the time but I heard all about it from friends and relatives, who were suitably excited. I guess it was the first time a Canadian team had ever won the World Series, which is pretty awesome when you think about it. And two years running, no less.

So for today’s installment of Wishful Skillin’ I decided to travel back in time and catch the Blue Jays game 6 defeat over the Philadelphia Phillies* in ’93.

*Sidenote: as far as team names go, I am kind of loving this one. Philadelphia Phillies! I think that sports franchises should use shortened versions of the names of their cities wherever possible. Keep things simple, right?

Anyway, the Fox loves baseball so he came with me. Here we are in the stands as Joe Carter celebrates after hitting his game-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Skillin’ In Wonderland

President Fox lives in the White House now.

If the White House was in Wonderland instead of Washington the South Lawn would probably look something like this:

Wishful Skillin’: The Sistine Chapel

I’ve been to the Vatican, but never actually made it inside the Sistine Chapel (in a stroke of misfortune, it was closed the only day that I had for sightseeing in Rome). I was sorely disappointed, especially since I had just finished reading Irving Stone’s excellent book, The Agony and the Ecstasy, about the life of Michelangelo.

So, today’s installment of Wishful Skillin’ sees me and the Fox on our own private tour of the Sistine Chapel (another presidential perk!)

Marine One

I am quickly discovering that there are many perks to being friends with the president.

For example, getting to travel in style aboard the presidential helicopter, Marine One.

Here are President Fox and I this morning, waiting on the South Lawn to be whisked away to an important meeting at the Pentagon.

President Fox

First of all, a shout-out to Thaddeus for being such an awesome PA (and friend!) and letting me crash out when I needed it. He is a stand-up dude.

I would like to dedicate today’s post to the Fox — who, after a long search, has just landed a new job. Job-hunting is the worst, right? I mean, the most difficult part of having a job is actually getting it in the first place!

Anyway, here’s his new gig:

I am not surprised to see where he has ended up. I would expect nothing less from this supremely clever and talented individual.

Please join me in wishing him luck in his new role.

And please have yourselves an excellent weekend!
